Diesel no. 1 and its train fades into the distance to the north. Never again would I see an operating SPNG train! It turned out that it would be about ten years before I returned to the area. I was getting a few snow flurries here and was out of time. I had to continue my journey to Ft. Benning, GA, to report on time for active Army officer duty.
