In August 1882 the SPC shops made the following modifications: Perforated half the dead grate with 3/4" holes; remove the insides of the Radley-Hunter stack and replaced them with a 20" cone and #17 wire 1/8" mesh screen.
Transferred to the [[South Pacific Coast Railway]] May 1887.
