Common Carrier Railroads
White Pass & Yukon Railway.
36in Gauge. Constructed to bring supplies to Dawson City, YT during the Klondike Gold Rush, the WP&Y operates through some of the most breathtaking scenery in North America. Completion of the Klondike Highway in 1980 and reduced mining in the area put an end to freight operations in 1982. In 1988 the line began hauling tourists as a heritage railway, carrying hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.

Mining Railroads
Baynes Sound Colliery Company.
36in Gauge. Tramway constructed to haul coal from the mine to a wharf at the company town of Quadra on Baynes Sound. A drop in market price left the company unprofitable as the result of depressed market prices. The mine closed down in 1878.

Dolly Varden Mines Railway.
36in Gauge.The Dolly Varden Mine proceeded some of the richest silver ore ever discovered. In 1917 the company constructed a railroad from the mine to an ore bunker and wharf at Alice Arm. Operations were short lived and the line shut down due to litigation in 1921.
