1883

The private car Fredonia built for Colonel J. Condit Smith, general manager of the Chicago & Atlantic Railroad, is painted dark sage green with gold ornamentation. The interior is polished cherrywood with bird's eye maple head linings on the ceiling.

Two new dining cars built by Jackson & Sharp are painted "the regulation ochre shade of the road".
