Locomotives

1878

Locomotives 29, 30 and 31 were delivered in Baldwin Style 49 painted Lake with "color" (imitation gold) striping and lettering. Jackets were American Iron with brass bands.

Locomotives 9 through 21 were delivered in Baldwin Style 49 painted Olive Green with "color" (imitation gold) striping and lettering. Jackets were American Iron with brass bands.

1878

Union Pacific gains control of the Utah Northern Railroad through the newly-organized Utah & Northern Railway. The change is not immediate, but after this date U&N cars would gradually be repainted to Union Pacific standards.

1879

Cars were painted yellow, described as "handsomely painted and bright as gold dollars."

1880

Pullman sleeping cars "Argo" and "Advance" used on the Utah & Northern painted "the usual color of Pullman cars." They were shipped to Ogden on standard gauge trucks which were replaced with narrow gauge wheelsets upon arrival. Interiors finished in raw bay wood with oak ceilings and gilded striping. Seats were scarlet plush.
