Old Colony officially adopts the “Pullman color” for the exterior of its passenger cars.

Since 1883 or 1884, passenger cars have been painted either yellow or a shade that is “nearly a Pullman color, although it shades a little more on the red than Pullman color.” Yellow car corner posts, hoods, and letter-boards painted Tuscan red, with a “black panel laid over the red for the letters.”
